Inpatient Substance Use Treatment in Austin, TX

Start Recovery Today.

If you or a loved one struggles with drug or alcohol abuse, you know how hard it can be to quit on your own. Inpatient rehab programs at our Austin, TX-area facility provide a safe way to get sober with the concentrated support and resources needed for long-term recovery.

Our Inpatient Substance Use Treatment Process

The inpatient admission and treatment process for substance use includes assessment, detoxification (detox), and therapy. We also offer acute stabilization for individuals who may be suicidal, experiencing hallucinations, or other mental health symptoms.

You can start this program by contacting us, or by being referred by a physician or therapist.

Assessment

Treatment begins with a confidential assessment with a social worker or counselor. Your treatment team will then work together with you to determine the best level of care for your recovery.

Detoxification

Detox helps you discontinue drugs or alcohol and become medically stable. Trying to detox on your own is dangerous, and is more likely to lead to relapse. We provide fully supervised detox services to minimize discomfort and ensure patient safety. Our facilities also provide therapeutic programming throughout the detox process.

Different drugs tend to have different withdrawal symptoms, which can range from mild cravings to anxiety to hallucinations. These symptoms may appear as soon as eight hours after the last usage, or up to three to four days later. The period of detoxification varies depending on the substance used, your symptoms, and other factors unique to your needs.

Medically-assisted detox may be an option depending on the substance used and your withdrawal symptoms. This can include medications to control blood pressure during alcohol withdrawal, or a variety of other comfort or anti-craving medications to treat the physical symptoms of withdrawal.

Therapy

Therapy begins during detox and continues once the physical symptoms of withdrawal have subsided. At this stage, you may be offered dual diagnosis treatment. This option is provided for those who struggle with both addiction and other mental health conditions.

Inpatient rehab therapies include therapy, family meetings, support groups, activities, and educational programs.

Inpatient Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Inpatient treatment for alcohol addiction uses behavioral and holistic therapies, wellness education, recreational activities, and medication to help you continue your recovery.

Treatment can help those who:

●  May lack a social support system to help them stay sober

●  Are a danger to themselves or others

●  Have serious trouble avoiding alcohol during daily life

●  Want to focus completely on recovery

●  Have not had success with other treatment approaches

These programs offer continued inpatient treatment after detox. Inpatient alcohol addiction treatment requires a significant amount of time and effort, but completion of treatment can lead to improved work and family relationships, and a better quality of life.

Inpatient Drug Addiction Treatment

Inpatient treatment for drug addiction combines behavioral and holistic therapies, medication, educational programs, and recreational activities based on your individual needs.

Treatment can help those who:

●  Need round-the-clock monitoring and medical care

●  May not have a strong social support system

●  Are a danger to themselves or others

●  Want an immersive experience that focuses completely on recovery

●  Have not found success with other treatment approaches

Our programs provide continued inpatient treatment after detox. The length of stay depends on the individual.

Outpatient Programs

After you complete an inpatient program, your therapist will discuss your discharge plan, which may include an outpatient program to help you transition back to everyday life.

Our facility offers Changes® outpatient programs, which include both Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs).

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs)

A PHP is often a “step-down” option for individuals who have received inpatient treatment. It is also an early intervention option for some individuals before symptoms and behavior requires inpatient treatment.

PHP programs generally last up to 12 hours a day, 5 days a week, but allow you to stay at home. Those who enter a PHP will usually see a healthcare provider within the first one to two days, although a nurse is always available on-site.

PHPs involve working with a full care team. Your treatment may include behavioral and holistic therapies, wellness education, recreational activities, family meetings, group meetings, and medication.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs)

IOPs are designed for individuals who have mental health or substance use issues, but do not require round-the-clock medical care or crisis stabilization, or the intensity of a PHP program. These programs usually last three to five days a week with three hours of treatment per day. Most IOPs offer some combination of supervised medication management, education, training and skill building, and individual talk therapy or support meetings.

Ongoing Care & Support

After completing treatment, we offer Alumni Support Groups to help you continue your recovery momentum. These peer-led support groups put you in touch with others who understand your treatment and recovery experience. We also help you get connected to other community resources, such as meetings for AA or Narcotics Anonymous.
